Captivate my heart, dear Jesus

"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap harvest if we do not give up.
What you see in your spiritual life today is the direct result of what you've put in the soil of your life in days past. Do you know why some Christians make great strides in their walk with God while others are stagnant? Have you wondered if there is a godliness gene that some people are born with?
Of course there isn't. The difference between the person who grows in godliness and the one who doesn't is not a matter of personality, upbringing or gifting; the difference is what each has planted into the soil of his or her heart and soul. Holiness isn't a mysterious spiritual state that only a elite few can reach. It's more than an emotion, or a resolution, or an event.

The greatest privilege of my life is relating to, communicating with and knowing the Creator of the universe.
Do you want to grow in holiness? Sow seeds to the Spirit every day through private times with God. Pursue intimacy with Him. How can we expect to have strength to resist temptation if we are not drawing strength from God's presence and having our hearts enlivened by His Spirit as we study His word?
We need to make the gospel and God's glory our focus. We need to give ourselves to knowing Him, worshipping Him, and meeting Him every day. The result will be a passion for godliness.
